Namaste! I live in New York and work at Goldman Sachs. Thought of blowing the bugle on Shaadi. com before my Mom takes things into her hands, and creates a profile on my behalf (which would be a total disaster by the way, with words like 'Family Oriented Gujarati Boy', 'Strong Cultural Values', 'Smart' etc. , sprinkled all over the place).
I have been in NY, USA for 7 years now. Am originally from Ahmedabad (a city where the number of Gujaratis is only slightly more than the number of 'Gujjus' in New Jersey) and where the entire city is as crazy as I am, and people eat a gazillion kilos of Fafda/Jalebi.
Parents are both Lawyers, so the usual conversation goes 'According to Law, you are found guilty of sleeping for 12 straight hours on a Saturday'. And as if that was not enough, Dad is also a Chartered Accountant and Mom is also a Nutritionist.
My folks put a lot of weight on education. After spending 4 years studying Computer Engineering in India (studying = playing Cricket on Soccer fields and Soccer on Basket-Ball courts, and breaking more things than creating), I ended up pursuing my Master's at New York University (NYU, that quirky place in the middle of New York), studying theoretical computer science at Courant Institute, where most Professors still remember me.
For the wrong reasons. The folks at Goldman Sachs called me up and decided I was good enough to join their merry band, and so I ended up at Goldman Sachs, where I work on a lot of fun stuff.
Challenging work, smart colleagues, and enlightening discussions on a variety of topics, is my definition of a fun day. And yes, I still break more things than I am supposed to.
No wonder my colleagues think I am the physical manifestation of hell itself. A variety of stuff interests me, and I love to have discussions on pretty much any topic.
Some favorite topics being startups, software, finance, history, strategy, business, culture, math, politics, and did I say sports! I also enjoy reading, one of the things I like doing is lazying around over the weekend reading a good book. I love creating new software products, I do my own side-projects (call it a small side-business of mine, entrepreneurs taking over the world woohoo! :), writing software that people would find useful, my own little way of contributing to this world and making it a better place.
In my free time, when I am not lurking around in the office or watching/playing cricket/soccer/poker or making fun of my closest friends, I roam around the city in a black-cloak and fight crime Shaolin Kung-Fu Style. But just as I am about to punch the villain, the shrill noise of that dutiful alarm wakes me up.
My buddies often call me 'The Dreamer', but that's because I always look like I just woke-up, and they are mostly drunk when they speak so. I often do dream of changing the world, and so I like the company of people who think and dream big.
Am pretty ambitious and entrepreneurial myself, so I think an ideal match would be someone who is ambitious, classy, entrepreneurial, brave, intelligent, and witty. Spunky is the right word.
I look forward to hearing from you. Thank You.
Come Again!
